Lightning Ridge - Gem of the Outback
Lightning Ridge is about 770km Northwest of Sydney and about 750km Southwest of Brisbane. Widely known as the home of the Black Opal, it offers a wide range of attractions and experiences: Witness Outback Theater with a twist, marvel at underground sculptures, explore the cactus gardens, cool off in the water theme park, go on a mining tour, shop for black opal, go fossicking or visit the nearby opal fields. There's plenty to do in Lightning Ridge so plan to stay at least 4-5 days.
The Chambers of the Black Hand
Ten years in the making, Ron’s carvings include “The African Chamber”;
with an elephant, a silverback gorilla, pythons, an orang-utan with
attitude and countless other varieties of animals. “The Last Supper”
was a challenge, “The Egyptian Room” a bit of a giggle and now,
goblins, dinosaurs, an Archangel and Nostradamus emerge eerily from the
walls. His most recent carvings are in the new Egyptian Room and are being extended on a daily basis.

some of the most stunning scenery of the NSW outback. Meet the locals,
hear their stories, learn about the challenges of the outback, visit
